The eClipseScan is a simple scanning and reading workstation that creates Digital Talking Books (using the DAISY* standard) for personal use and includes a suite of built-in news and entertainment features. All functions operate via a simple keypad and self-voicing wizard menu system.

eClipseScan Control Panel:

The keypad is intuitively arranged with tactile markings to assist positioning your hand within reach of all controls. The front panel includes the power on / off button, a volume knob and earphone jack that automatically disables the speaker output when headphones are connected to the system.

The HELP KEY enables the key describer mode which acts as a built-in tutor announcing the function of each key when pressed and provides context sensitive help for the DVD player, Internet radio and scanning and reading operation.

Effective Key Navigation:

Scan / Load Key: Place a document on the scanner and press the scan / load key – scanning starts, then reading starts automatically at the top of the document.

Play / Pause Key: Stops and starts document reading.

Arrow Keys: Provide document navigation by line or word.

Enter Key: The key in the center of the arrow keys spells the current word.

Page Up & Page Down Keys: These announce the page number while scrolling through the document.

Font and Speed Keys: These modify the reading environment, adjusting reading speed, and a range of font size and text color combinations to assist low vision users.

Menu Key: This key opens the self-voicing menu system to launch the DVD player, Internet Radio, Open or Save Documents, Save and Output Daisy books, Burn Daisy CDs and adjust system preferences.

eClipseScan's High Quality Audio System:

The curved front left and right corners of eClipseScan house powerful speakers providing high quality stereo output.

The rear panel includes audio output jacks for external stereo speakers or surround sound systems. These jacks are independent of the front speaker and headphone jack.

Connecting the earphones to the front panel stereo jack automatically disables the internal speaker output.

eClipseScan includes both SVGA and S-Video TV output jacks.

Connect a computer monitor or TV set and view magnified text, as words are highlighted and read with the high quality NeoSpeech Text-To-Speech.

Just load a DVD, press the Scan / Load key to start the movie! No need to find and navigate a visual menu system.

eClipseScan provides Blind and Low Vision users accessible control over DVD content when available on the DVD.

They may –

Access Secondary Audio Output Settings, Closed Caption and Language settings.

Use the keypad to navigate a DVD by chapter, fast forward or rewind in 30 second increments, and control the movie playback in fast and slow motion.

A talking DVD Menu Manager provides access to sections and sub sections contained on a DVD.
